COVER: Good Sound, Thoughtfully Designed

COVER: Good Sound, Thoughtfully Designed
An album can find its way back to you unexpectedly. Someone mentions an artist. A song turns up in a movie. You notice a familiar spine on the shelf and realize you haven’t played that record in years.
You take it out, open the case, and remember why you kept it.
COVER was made to bring those albums back into everyday life. It combines dedicated audio hardware with wired and wireless listening, a compact form, and a restrained touch interface. Put on headphones for some time to yourself, or connect a Bluetooth speaker while you make dinner.
The idea is to make a CD collection easy to enjoy again, with care given to both the sound and the object that plays it.

What happens after the disc starts spinning

Reading a disc is the beginning of a CD player’s work. Getting that information to your headphones or speakers involves a series of steps, and the hardware behind them matters.
For wired listening, COVER uses two Cirrus Logic CS43198 digital-to-analog converters, with separate processing for the left and right channels. JRC NJM4566A headphone amplifier chips handle the amplification stage.
Each has a specific job. The DACs convert digital audio into an analog signal. The headphone amplifiers then provide the drive for connected headphones. Giving both stages dedicated hardware was a deliberate part of COVER’s design.
Wireless listening has its own dedicated Qualcomm Bluetooth chip, with support for aptX HD transmission.
A component list helps explain the choices inside a player, though it can’t describe the whole listening experience. The recording, circuit design, and headphones or speakers all contribute. COVER’s hardware provides the foundation for the setup you choose.

Your album, with room to move

You don’t always spend an album sitting in one place.
Connect COVER to Bluetooth headphones and keep listening as you move around the room. Pair it with a Bluetooth speaker, and a CD can become the soundtrack to an evening at home.
COVER supports aptX HD transmission when paired with headphones or speakers that also support the codec. The receiving device handles digital-to-analog conversion and amplification during Bluetooth playback; COVER’s internal DACs and headphone amplifiers serve its wired outputs.
That distinction is useful when choosing a connection. Bluetooth lets you listen without a cable running back to the player. A wired connection puts COVER’s conversion and headphone amplification hardware to work directly.
Both have a place in daily use. You can choose according to where you are and what you’re doing.

A place for your favorite headphones

For a closer, more private listening session, COVER offers a standard 3.5mm headphone output and a 4.4mm balanced output for compatible headphones and cables.
If you already have a wired pair you enjoy, there’s a straightforward place for them here. Connect them, settle into a chair, and give an album some attention.
A dedicated player makes this a pleasantly contained setup. You don’t need a full stereo system to spend time with your CDs, and you can switch to a wireless connection whenever that suits you better.
The headphones you reach for at your desk and the speaker you use across the room can belong to the same listening routine.

A quieter presence at home

A CD player spends plenty of time in view, even when an album isn’t playing. Its shape, finish, and details become part of the room.
COVER’s compact proportions and clean surfaces give it an easy place on a low shelf, a side table, or a desk. It can sit beside a stack of favorite albums or among books, lighting, and furniture you’ve chosen over time.
The restraint carries through to its construction. A concealed mechanism keeps much of the working hardware inside the body. The touch display gathers playback controls into one defined area, while covered ports keep unused connections discreet.
Wireless playback also opens up possibilities for placement. With a Bluetooth speaker connected and the built-in battery charged, COVER can sit on a shelf or sideboard without a cable running to a speaker or power outlet. USB-C charging is there when it’s time to plug back in.
Those choices bring appearance and use together. You can place COVER where it feels right in the room, keep it within reach, and leave it out between listening sessions.

Keep your collection in circulation

Music collections tend to spread across formats. There are CDs bought years ago, recent discoveries, and files stored on a computer or USB drive.
COVER supports CD ripping to a computer, helping you bring physical albums into your digital library. It also supports music playback from USB storage, giving those saved files a place in your listening setup.
You might want the original CD at home and a digital copy available elsewhere. Or you might move between discs and stored music throughout the week.
These features accommodate a collection as it grows and changes. The albums you’ve kept can remain useful, accessible, and part of what you actually play.

Put something on

There’s a particular pleasure in choosing an album and letting it run. The opening track sets the pace. A song you’d forgotten turns up halfway through. You stay for the last one.
COVER brings considered audio hardware, flexible connections, and a simple interface to that experience, in a form that feels at home in the room.
Choose a disc. Find your place. Press play.
